The images show all the steps we had to take to ensure that this roof would not leak:
This is a roof in Queens that was done by a roofer living in Queens. We found that he did not know how to torch seams together. It was a battle trying to repair his mess.
These are images of all the repairs we did on a roof in Queens
After removing the tar from the scupper we were able to make the new transition with rubber
Parapet walls with half pipe or coping tiles are not easy do the flashing against. This is especially true when everyone have smeared tar under the lip of the tile. What we did in this case is we removed the ribs that forms the joint between two tiles to get a smooth surface
After removing the ribs, we then were able to install a rubber membrane directly on the clay caps down to the roof
We also had to make numerous patches on the roof.
Repairing the flashing against the parapet wall
The metal cap butted up to the slate roof. Then someone used tar to make that transition. We removed the cracked tar and installed a piece of rubber membrane
The transition form the metal cap to the chimney. We covered the chimney with a membrane and made the transition to the metal cap
The joint where the two metal caps meet also had to be covered with a rubber membrane
This is what the roof ended up looking. It took almost 5 hours for all the repairs
